The day was sunny and cooler than the previous few days when 32 pairs joined us at Cradoc for this event, numbers had been affected by the pandemic but nonetheless it was an excellent turnout. 13 different clubs were represented coming from as far afield as Redditch and Radyr.
The organisation in the hands of our Ladies Captain, Cath Maggs, Bev Beck and Sarah Parker ensured that everyone was fully briefed regarding handicaps and format. Ladies Vice Captain Janet Hendy sent everyone off the first tee with clear instructions and a smile.
Richard Wimmer and his catering team and the bar staff did a sterling job keeping everyone fed and watered, creating a very happy atmosphere for the day.
Although most people had left for home by the time the last players came in the Ladies Captain made a brief presentation, vouchers will be posted out to those who were not present to receive them.
12 pairs scored 36 or more points, the winners were Alison Mathews and Steve Bromage from Cradoc with 46 points, they also receive the Davidson Trophy for the best score by a home pair. Best Gross Score was produced by Pat Lear and Peter Ward from Woodlake Park with 80 winning on the back 9. The first four places were shared equally between home and visiting pairs.
All in all it was a very happy and lively day, we look forward to next year when we hope to welcome back more pairs and realise pre-pandemic entries again.
