Madalena Marques, Administrator
Madalena has been the Office Administrator since February 2014, and oversees most admin tasks such as control of all membership processes and invoicing of subscriptions, plus the important responsibility of all cash handling and bank reconciliations.
Madalena also takes care of the majority of the administration of the Club’s busy Society and Visitor bookings, which is interlinked with the day-to-day management of the Club’s busy diary.
Madalena’s voice is usually the first one that telephone callers hear, and her cheery and efficient manner of dealing with members and visitors alike is an asset to the Club.
Originally from Portugal, Madalena and her husband Miguel have two young sons and live in the Brecon locality.
Office hours – every effort is made to have the Office operational between 08:45 to 17:00 each week day. The Club’s telephone system has an answering service and messages are checked each weekday morning.
Richard Davies, Head Professional
Richard has been the PGA Professional at Cradoc GC for over 20 years.
Richard has built up a reputation as a first class coach, and offers many teaching options to accommodate both individuals and/or group requirements.
With a fleet of 12 buggies for hire, and a fully stocked shop, members, casual visitors and the many societies and tourists that visit Cradoc each year are well provided for.
Richard is ever present at the Club, and a warm welcome is always given to everyone visiting the Pro Shop – there is no charge for the cheeky banter that you will receive!
Richard is married to Sian, lives locally, and has two children, Sam and Sophie.
Bradley Lynch – Assistant
Bradley is Richard’s assistant and is considering a future in the PGA ranks. A former junior at the Club, Bradley actively participates in competitions and plays off a handicap of 9. Bradley lives in the Brecon locality.
The Pro Shop is open from 08:30 to 17:30 daily and often these hours are extended in conjunction with major events (i.e. Competition Days, Winter League, Open Days etc)
Stephen Higgins, Head Greenkeeper
Stephen Higgins has been the Head Green Keeper at Cradoc Golf Club since September 2016.
Stephen has 30 years' experience in golf course and turf care management.
Stephen lives in Abergavenny with his family.
Deputy Head Green Keeper
John joined the greenkeeping team in 2010, and has since progressed to the position of Deputy HGK in 2014. John has advanced his turf management skills via college courses and has gained qualifications in both PA1 and PA6 courses to date.
Assistant Green Keeper
Alun was formerly employed in grounds’ maintenance for 16 years and joined the Cradoc team in April 2015. Having settled in well Alun continues to make a vital contribution to the daily upkeep of the golf course, and also possesses a chainsaw licence.
Dylan van Zyl
Assistant Green Keeper
Dylan van Zyl also joined the green-keeping team in 2015, and is currently attending College courses to further his knowledge of turf management. Dylan worked in the bar here at the Club previously and is living in the Brecon area.
Jason is our current 'summer help' for 2017, and has settled in very well after being with us last summer. Jason lives in the locality and has indicated he would very much like to extend his temporary position on the green-keeping team.
Accreditation - John, Alun and Dylan have all undergone the training for, and gained accredited competency level, to use the Club’s mini excavator.
Weather information line – Members and Visitors are reminded that on a daily basis (where relevant), the green staff update a central information facility, in line with any substantial changes to access or playability of the course.
Examples of such information will be most relevant to the allowance or restrictions of Buggies or Trolleys during adverse conditions, and occasionally on any disruptive work ongoing such as hollow coring, spraying etc. The telephone number is 07791 858712
Will oversees all aspects of the bar including stock control, selection of products and cash balancing. Will is a keen photographer and still holds PGA membership (plays to a scratch handicap)
Bar Support Team
Rachel is a member of the bar support team at Cradoc GC, often seen in the evenings and at weekends. Rachel lives very near to the Club and has been an important member of the Cradoc team since 2015.
Bar Support Team
Rhianwen is another member of the bar support team, and although this position is recent, she is well known to many members from her engagement (along with her twin sister Angharad) as part of the catering team.
The Bar at Cradoc is open from 11.30 am each day, throughout the day, with closing hours in the evenings varying in conjunction to seasonal demand or organised events/functions.
The Club operates a Franchise engagement for its catering activities. Since the summer of 2013, Richard Wimmer has ably provided for the needs of members and visitors alike.
Richard is a qualified Chef and has an array of delicious home-made recipes.
With the experience of many years in the catering trade behind him, he is able to offer a diverse selection of menus and fayre to suit all tastes.
On a daily basis, the Caterers are supported by Iva, Joyce and Angharad.
Iva is a latest recruit, living locally and from eastern European origin. Angharad (along with Rhianwen) has been a regular in the restaurant for about 8 seasons, and Joyce has been involved with Cradoc GC for over 20 years!
Catering Opening Times
Standard opening times for the Kitchen are 11.30 am, seven days per week.
The kitchen remains open throughout each day, closing in line with seasonal demand and/or in line with special occasions or functions etc. During the current summer season, food is available each evening until 6.00 pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and 8.00 pm Wednesday through Saturday
Saturday evenings throughout the year are popular for fine dining, as are the Sunday Roast offered each Sunday lunchtimes. For reservations, simply telephone 01874 623 658 Option 5.
Christine Davies is our resident cleaner and very much an ‘unsung hero’ who quietly goes about her business in keeping the Clubhouse clean and tidy each day. Christine, also a past member of the Catering team, has been with the Club for over 10 years. Christine takes care of the weekdays, Chrissy Andrew-Edwards steps in at the weekends.
The Clubhouse building is normally opened from 07:30 every day, often earlier in the playing season.
